Translated as meaning "friendship", La Amistad farm is truely a friend to both coffee lovers and the environment. Adjacent to La Amistad National Park, the estate sits at an altitude of nearly 4,000 feet in the mountains that rest between Costa Rica and Panama. La Amistad farm includes over 40.000 acres of untouched rainforest that have been protected against hunting, wood extraction and any kind of environmental detriment. The owners, who have had the estate in their family for generations, are committed to preserving this beautiful land and providing a decent living to their workers.

As an environmentally-friendly estate, La Amistad uses natural fertilizer (which doubles as a pesticide) and allows birds to manage the insects. In fact, the owners even power the farm via an on-site hydro-electric plant. The shade-grown coffee flourishes within this well balanced ecosystem that is home to a vast array of flora and fauna.
