Java Pancoer
The delicate chocolate notes of Java Pancoer enhance this coffee’s rich, syrupy body and low acidity.
Cultivated on the Indonesian island of Java, Java Pancoer Estate is considered to be the country’s best bean. At an elevation of 4,000 feet, the coffee is grown in the well-drained volcanic soil of government-regulated farms, plantations and estates. Regulations prohibit robusta beans be sold as Java coffee. Therefore, these farms, plantations and estates will only cultivate arabica beans. The coffee is then wet processed upon harvesting.
The Dutch introduced coffee to Java in the mid-seventeenth century when Indonesia was part of the Netherlands Indies. Since coffee from Java was exported all over the world by the Dutch, the country’s name became synonymous with the drink itself, which why coffee is sometimes referred to as “java.”
