Coffee
Most commercial-grown coffee is harvested from two different species of coffee trees: arabica and robusta. Arabica trees are more frequently cultivated because they produce a higher quality cherry, and at Monroe's Coffee, we only use the finest arabica beans from the world's leading coffee-growing regions. Cherries are the fruits that grow on coffee trees, while coffee beans are the seeds of the cherries. The cherries must be closely monitored and hand-picked from the trees once they are ripe. Upon harvesting, the fruit of the cherries is removed from the beans, and the beans are then washed, dried, classified according to size, graded and sent to Monroe's for roasting.
Quality beans, roasting technique and overall freshness are the integral components of great coffee. Unless it is packaged at the conclusion of being roasted or ground, coffee will start to lose both its flavor and aroma because of oxygen exposure. However, Monroe's captures the freshness and flavor of our coffees upon roasting in order to provide our customers with the most delicious coffee possible.
